How to create an 'Evidence collection'

Create an Evidence Collection by adding details, selecting sources, assigning reviewers, and starting the review.

How to Create an Evidence Collection

From the main dashboard, you can use the navigation list on the left-hand side to click on ‘Evidence collections’ to open the section. On the main Evidence collections page, you can create a new evidence review. At the top right-hand corner of the screen, click on the ‘+ Create evidence collection’ button.

Step 1 | Basic Details


In this section, you can fill out the core details and project assignment. Enter the title, then describe the purpose and scope of this evidence review. In the project assignment, use the dropdown to assign the evidence review to a project. Once these have been completed, click the ‘Next’ button that is found at the bottom right-hand corner. Alternatively, if you would like to navigate back or cancel, these buttons can be found on the bottom left-hand side of the page.


Step 2 | Research framework


In this section, you can choose a research framework to guide your curation process. This is an optional section, and you can proceed with a specific research framework. To do this, click on the ‘Skip Framework Selection’ and then the ‘Next’ button to continue to the next step.

Step 3 | Search Strategies


In this section, you select the Search Strategies to include in this evidence collection. On the left-hand side of each knowledge base, there is a tick box that you can select if you would like to include. Once these have been completed, click the ‘Next’ button that is found at the bottom right-hand corner.

Step 4 | Configure Filters


In this section, you can set filters to narrow results. This is an optional section, and you can proceed by clicking Skip filter configuration and use all available records, then clicking the ‘Next’ button to continue to the next step. In the top section, you can configure filters for each data source to narrow down your results before creating the evidence collection. Click on the selected search strategies to open a dropdown of filters.

Starting at the top of the dropdown

Search within results - Search titles, abstracts, concepts. Type in your search.

Sort by - Relevance, Citations, Publication Date, Title. Use the dropdown to select a choice

Publication Year - Select the start and end dates to focus on specific time periods.87cd You can type in the dates or use the arrows to scroll up and down the dates

Work Types - Tick the boxes of the work types you would like to select for the specific types of literature to include in your evidence collection

Citation Count - You can type in the number or use the arrows to scroll up and down the required numbers

Languages - Tick the boxes to select the preferred languages. Multiple can be selected at the same time

Once the above steps are complete, click the blue ‘Apply Filters’ button, or click Reset if you would like to clear the filters

Click “Next” to proceed.

Step 5 | Assign reviewers

In this section, you can select team members to review and approve/reject individual items in the list, for inclusion in the final project evidence collection. To select, just click the tick box at the top left-hand corner


​Once you have made your selections, click the blue ‘Create Evidence Collection’ button that is found at the bottom right-hand corner.


The page will then open to your newly created evidence collection.
