How to write a search strategy for X –
From the main dashboard, you can use the navigation list on the left-hand side to click on ‘Search strategies’ to open the page.
At the top right-hand corner, there is a ‘+ Add search strategy’ button, click to open.
In this section, you can connect a new search strategy to import data by defining a new search strategy optimized for a specific database with proper syntax and indexing.
Add Search Strategy
To start, pick a search strategy type to begin your search. Choose between Clinical Trials and OpenAlex.
Configuration - Whichever type you select, you will be taken to the configuration section where you can update the basic settings for your search strategy.
Your search strategy is now active. Please configure at least one search criteria to fetch the results. Click the Configure button to open up the configure search page.
To apply the AI suggestions, click the ‘+Add’ or ‘+Apply’.
Clinical Trials
For Clinical Trials, the configure search page will be set out like the image below. If you choose OpenAlex, the page will be different, and that can be seen further down this page.
Starting at the top, work your way through the search parameters.
Condition or Disease - Type in your disease or condition
Other Terms - Enter a keyword to search for trial studying specific conditions or diseases
Intervention or Treatment - Search for trials testing specific treatments or interventions
Sponsor - Search for trials by sponsor organisation
Location - Search for trials at specific locations
Advanced Query - Use advanced ClinicalTrials.gov query syntax for complex searches.
Click Save Configuration to complete your search.
You will then have your search strategy list. On the top right-hand corner, you can click to Edit Details or Configure again.
OpenAlex - If you choose OpenAlex, the configuration page will be set out like below. Here you can configure the search query for OpenAlex scholarly works. Use filters on the records page to refine results.

Once saved, the results can be found on the main search strategies page.
